SURPRISE wedding!

We often comment our information on posts on Facebook from brides looking for wedding photographers.  I saw Krista’s post looking for wedding photographers and was super excited she chose to contact us.

Krista wanted two photographers for their super duper small wedding. She said the best part is that it is a surprise wedding! I was so excited. We chatted back & forth before they officially booked us for September 29th.

They were getting married at Vines Pasta & Grill in Dartmouth, everyone invited thought it was an engagement celebration.  We started the day by meeting Krista, Eric and her two kids for their formal photos at Fisherman’s Cove.

I personally love Fisherman’s Cove, it is a perfect spot for photos. It is right on the water, with colourful buildings along a boardwalk and fishing boats.

We captured some amazing shots before heading off to Vines Pasta & Grill to get ready for the guests to arrive. The room was beautifully decorated and ready for the small, intimate surprise wedding.

As the guests arrived, we captured their expressions as they saw Krista in her wedding dress and Eric in his suit. The ceremony was beautiful, they wrote their own vows which touched your heart.

We are so happy that we got to be a part of Krista & Eric’s day! It was absolutely beautiful and fun!

How you see it VS How I see it.

Hey Everyone, I have some fun images to show you today! The last few months, I have been snapping some photos on my iPhone of the locations we are shooting to show y’all the difference on how you see the location and how we see it.

Below was iPhone photos of the location we shot as well as me in action with Lux. We all piled into a side by side and took off in the woods in New Harbour to this location.

Here are a few of the shots we capture in the woods. First look at the location you see, trees, overgrown bushes, a lot of rocks. This is what we got out of it. Ian built a fire, they roasted marshmallows, drank hot chocolate and Lux had a blast. She is full of adventure!

Martina and I ventured out the other day for a mini shoot. This location is on the side of the road, close to her place. I had her climbing down in the dead trees in heels and climbing rocks.

These are the photos we accomplished in just a short time from a little spot on the side of the road. The lighting was great and I love everything about these photos.

I love how you can take any location that you may think “this is ugly, she is crazy” and I can turn it into “wow, these are incredible, best photos yet”. Whether we pile in a side by side and go do what your family loves to do on weekends or we find a place on the side of the road that I see potential in. We can give you incredible images. We are going to continue to show you before and after photos on our Facebook Page: Tailgate Photography

Another reason to choose Tailgate Photography. We love adventure, we love to take your ideas and make them reality. Oh and we go above and beyond to make our clients happy! I’ve had clients say…. “well, I seen ideas on Pinterest can I send them to you”, heck yes, if you have ideas or have seen ideas you want to recreate, we will but we will change it up a bit so we aren’t “copying” another photographer.

Bump, Baby & Beyond

Pregnancy is an exciting time in your life.  Maternity sessions are a great way to treat yourself before baby comes.  Let’s face it, once baby is born, he or she will be all of the focus!  I recommend booking your maternity session around weeks 28-34,  when your belly is nice and round but before you start feeling uncomfortable.

Life truly is a gift and creation of this life is nothing less than miraculous. We will perfectly capture the beauty of your pregnancy, your journey as a mother begins 9 months before you hold your baby. Capturing the beauty, happiness and memories in your pregnancy is what we aim to do.

Then baby arrives, it’s their time to shine. I love newborn photography. I recently took 2  courses in Newborn Photography. I learned so much from baby safety to wrapping techniques, posing and more. I am constantly adding new items to my newborn prop collection to make each session unique and different. We have a home studio and can also travel to the comfort of your home with our “mini studio”.

I love to bring beautiful artwork to my clients to treasure. It all starts with Baby’s 1st year session. Newborn babies are little angels that like to sleep & cuddle because of these qualities, newborn photographs make some of the most beautiful images. A little patience, timing and creative posing will allow us to capture these moments perfectly. Onward and upwards your baby will grow so fast and the first year is the most important. The real fun starts when your baby starts smiling. Your baby will grow a lot in their 1st year, capturing that 1st chapter of their life is important and priceless.

We would love to be apart of your journey in becoming parents and welcoming your new baby.  All our packages are listed under Newborn & Fresh 48 and Maternity.

Wedding on the Lake

Victoria and Ted booked us last year for their August 12th, 2017 wedding. Victoria contacted us last year to be their wedding photographer. She was referred by a friend. We set up their engagement session for the fall, we traveled down to Erinville to their cottage on the lake.

They are a very laid back, country couple from the city. They love to be on the lake fishing and go wheeling! Ted proposed to Victoria while out fishing in their favorite spot.

August 12th came and it couldn’t have rained any harder. James dropped me off with the ladies while he went down to photograph the men getting ready. It was raining, then came a crack of thunder and lightning. The men worked hard putting the tent up for the ceremony.

Rain didn’t ruin their day, everything went perfectly. The rain stopped long enough for us to go and get photos taken on their dock, wheeler then down the road to a perfect spot with a big beautiful red barn.

The old saying is “if it rains on your wedding day, it’s good luck”.  It really was a perfect day for such a lovely couple.

…..and then there were 4

We met Candace, Chris and Joey last year when we did their Fall Family Session. A little while later I had a contest to win a free Fresh 48 Session. Fresh 48 session is when we go into the hospital to capture the first moments after the birth of your baby. Candace messaged me shortly after I announced the winner to tell me she just found out they were expecting again.

We kept in contact through her pregnancy, discussed maternity photos, fresh 48 photos and a newborn session. They found out they were having a baby boy!

We booked in their maternity session at Rainbow Haven Beach, it was a beautiful sunny day! Joey was full of energy and fun! He got to help read a book to his baby brother, used can phones to talk to his baby brother in mommy’s belly, he had lots of fun. Especially playing peek-a boo with my husband James.

On September 30th, Austin Wesley Kealy made his debut. He was early, surprising his parents. When he was 3 days old, James and I packed up and headed to their house to photograph his newborn session.

Austin absolutely rocked his newborn session. He slept the entire time, James wrapped him in different wraps, we changed outfits many times and he just slept making the most adorable little noises.

We love being part of capturing those first moments in our client’s lives, watching their children grow, freezing all those moments in their life for them to have forever.
